DCNR #1 - Daily Convention News Report
LCCA Conventioneers are gathering at Buffalo, NY for the club's annual event with trains, tours, food, and fun. The following news summary is by tour-goer Bob Carter (RM 6620).
Today, more than 200 LCCA Convertioneers attended the first tour of this year's convention in Buffalo, NY. It was a full day of trains, toys, wine tasting and BBQ. The day began with a stop at the Ridge Road Station in Holley, NY. This facility is a Christmas shopper's dream. The store is complete with trains, toys, and some of the most delicious fudge I've had in a long time.
After a too-short stay, we left for the Medina Railroad Museum and a ride on the former NY Central & Hudson River Railroad. Riding in restored NYC passenger cars, we crossed the Eric Canal a couple of times and saw some beautiful NY countryside. One of the cars was previously used on the classic 20th Century Limited, and the other four cars formerly carried NYC passengers also. After a stop at Lockport, NY we headed back to Medina, but stopped at the Spring Lake Winery for a delightful, tasty BBQ lunch and wine tasting. The dixieland band entertained as we ate under the big sprawling shade trees, capping off a day of warm New York weather with a delightful outdoor meal.
After filling our tummies, it was back on the busses for a sleepy return trip to the Adam's Mark Hotel in downtown Buffalo. If this first tour is any indication, this week is destined to be the start of another wonderful convention for your train club.
