The Colorado Toy Train Group, LLC (CTTG) and Lionel Collectors Club of America (LCCA) are co-sponsoring their first auction for 2017. to be held again at the Ramada Plaza, 4849 Bannock St., in Denver. Colorado. Viewing begins at 8 a.m. and the auction will begin at 9 a.m.
This two-day, 802 lot, event is heavily loaded with Lionel products, including over 230 lots of postwar items. The mix contains a broad selection of over 200 lots of freight rolling stock as well as over 40 lots of passenger coaches. The offering of motive power is heavy with diesel locomotives and motorized units featuring over 100 lots of various models. Although the list of steam power is only about 40 lots, it includes everything from modest Scout units to an impressive #773 and an MTH Challenger.
In a similar fashion, the 60 plus lots of track and switches contain everything from new traditional 027 & O gauge tubular components, as well as Super O, to the latest Fastrack pieces. For power supply options, there are five 275 ZW’s, two with OB’s, and a powerful MTH Z4000. With over 100 lots of accessories, the choices for loading coal, lumber and barrels are numerous, and a rather scarce apple green, #455 operating oil derrick, with the OB, is sure to cause some aggressive bidding. To provide for river crossings, there are two #313 Bascule bridges. An attractive assortment of 60 lots of building kits, Plasticville and complete structures, offer opportunities for a sprawling town or trackside activities. Over 20 lots of layout vehicles will provide options for the transportation to all these buildings. For those who love to pick through parts cabinets or flats of various miscellaneous components, over 65 lots of all sorts of “stuff” should satisfy their craving. Finally, for the intellectuals, over 25 lots of books on all aspects of railroads and model railroading should be of interest.
Clearly, this eclectic collection of toy train merchandise should provide something for all enthusiasts and pocketbooks.
