LCCA - a Great Sept Weekend Full of Family Friendly Special Events (Recap)
The Lionel Collectors Club of America (LCCA) had a busy and successful weekend with three great Special Events. LCCA Members and their families enjoyed events in Florida, near Chicago, IL and Wichita KS this past weekend. Thank you LCCA members, Herb Koch, John Flinn, Michael Broggie, Ed Richter and LCCA President Dennis DeVito for hosting and representing the club at these great fun-filled events!
Ed Richter, LCCA members and members of the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society all enjoyed the “Behind the Magic of Our Steam Trains Tour" at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom near Orlando FL. Members also learned about Walt Disney’s interest in trains and how his home backyard train live steam miniature layout was a precursor to Disneyland in California. Thank you to Michael Broggie and the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society for hosting this fun and informative event in Florida.
John Flinn represented the club at the fun Wichita Toy Train Club and Museum's 19th Annual Train Show and Swap Meet on September 28-29, 2013. LCCA members had fun running trains on the layouts while some lucky LCCA members won LCCA door prizes.
LCCA members and their families had a chance to meet with LCCA club President Dennis DeVito during the “Lionel Train Day” Special event held September 28, 2013 at the Chicagoland Railroad Club's Train House (CLRC). Lionel’s J Don Reece, Tom Nuzzo and John Ricks gave demonstrations with Lionel’s new Legacy Control System utilizing I-pads to control the trains and switches on CLRC’s layout. Three Lucky visitors received LCCA Commemorative
cars in the show raffle. The new “100 % Made In America” LCCA commemorative billboard sets were in high demand during the show. LCCA members appreciate and were busy buying this new and innovative club billboard product. As you can tell, LCCA Special Events are very diverse in nature. There is no set formula for hosting an event. We like train shows, meetings with Lionel, real trains and of course Lionel trains.
