LCCA Has Successful WGHOT Show in Fort Worth TX (recap)
We started off this year with a very successful event during the January 5-6, 2013 World’s Greatest Hobby on Tour (WGHOT) show in Fort Worth Texas. Members in Texas had an opportunity to re-connect with LCCA President Dennis DeVito and Convention Co-manager “Choo Choo” Bob Carter and local member Rich Hildebrandt at the LCCA booth during the show. Lionel's mascot, Lenny the Lion was there entertaining and meeting with show attendees.
“Thank you!” to all volunteers who helped out and staffed the LCCA booth and the LCCA/Lionel FasTrack Modular Railroad Layout at this show. Our booth was placed next to Lionel’s operating layout and display. Visitors had the opportunity to meet with and talk to Lionel representatives Joe Fea, Tom Nuzzo and J. Don Reece. LCCA's mini layout was in operation and attracted a crowd of people. This small layout was designed and built by TW TrainWorx of Dallas, TX, to demonstrate what can be accomplished within a small space. You do not have to have a huge space to have your own operating Lionel layout.
These WGHOT shows are great ways to introduce our club to train show visitors as well as an opportunity to meet and talk with our members that live in the region. If you are in the St. Louis MO, San Diego CA, Sacramento CA or San Francisco area when the WGHOT shows are coming to your city, I highly recommend you attend. You will see the toy train hobby is alive and doing very well. Several thousand visitors attend these shows each day. “Thanks” to all of the 45 plus members who stopped by. I also want to welcome the 11 new members who joined our club at this event. I encourage you to get involved and participate in future LCCA Special Event activities. The more you get involved, the more you will enjoy the club.
We just completed our first successful Special Event of 2013. It set the tone for a very exciting and event-filled 2013 new year. We are well on our way of accomplishing LCCA President Dennis DeVito's goal of reaching out and meeting with 2200 members this year. We have several new, family oriented, LCCA Special Events planned for this year in various cities around the country. We hope you can attend and participate in some of these events. I am certain you will have FUN!
If we don't have a LCCA Special Event scheduled for your area and you would like to host one, please contact me to discuss your ideas. We invite and encourage you to host a LCCA Special Event in your area.
We wish you and your families a healthy, happy and safe new year!
