Recap of the LCCA/CTTG 2+ Day September 29/30 Special Event
LCCA had a presence throughout the entire event, and LCCA participation was emphasized on Saturday and received special recognition by CTTG at the Saturday evening dinner. By all accounts the event was a success. There were 36 LCCA members plus 15 spouses and 3 children who attended the Event - A Day of Fun with Toy Trains. Total attendance for the 2+ day event was over 500 folks including 200 children.
Mike Reagan began the Special Event Friday morning with a clinic on how to wire a layout for Lionel’s Legacy System. The following 2 days, LCCA and CTTG members and other participants enjoyed watching trains run on seven operating layouts, a LEGO layout, a wooden train layout, a Garden Scale layout on the patio, and a toddlers’ riding train.
Saturday evening, LCCA members and their families joined by operators and invited guests enjoyed a dinner on the patio, while watching the sun set behind the Rocky Mountains. Entertainment was provided by the Skyliners, a group of 11 ladies, singing a wide variety of songs.
In addition to LCCA for the 2+day event, there were 24 sponsors of the event. The sponsors provided 41 Chinese Raffle prizes at a value of $8,400+. The value of the prizes ranged from $75 - $400. The LCCA contributed 3 items for the Chinese Raffle [Lionel Lines 4-4-2 loco, LCCA Mechanical Refrigerator Car, and an LCCA Dallas 2011 Registration Car]. For a special door prize drawing at the dinner, LCCA contributed a Junior Member Gondola w/dinosaurs for the kids and an UP Flag Hopper for adults.
As a measurement of success, I think one member said it all. He commented that "he was continuing his LCCA membership, now that LCCA-sponsored activities are being held in the greater Denver area".
