Call for Planking Photos!
The Lionel Collectors club of America invites you to send in photo's of you or your family members planking or owling along side Lionel model trains. For those of you who don't know what planking or owling is, please see the attached photos and the Google definition below. We are asking members to post their photos on the LCCA's face book page https://www.facebook.com/LionelCollectorsClubofAmerica. We only ask that you plank responsibly. We will only accept safe and legal planking/owling photos. Please do not plank with real trains. Let the fun begin! We will be accepting photo submissions until 2-15-12. Please plank responsibly!
"Planking" (or the "Lying Down Game") is an activity consisting of lying face down in an unusual or incongruous location. Both hands must touch the sides of the body and having a photograph of the participant taken and posted on the Internet is an integral part of the game. Players compete to find the most unusual and original location in which to play. The term planking refers to mimicking a wooden plank. Rigidity of the body must be maintained to constitute good planking.
Since early 2011, many participants in planking have photographed the activity on unusual locations such as atop poles, roofs and vehicles. Planking can include lying flat on a flat surface, or holding the body flat while it's supported in only some regions, with other parts of the body suspended.
A simular fad, Owling (internet meme) is the practice of crouching "like an owl" in unusual places. Owling is played much like planking. While neither owiling nor planking are directly related to train actiivites, they are fun - a trademark of the LCCA. Plank away!
As you will see on our face book page, some well-known LCCA members have been seen either planking or owling.
