A Delightful Discovery
After a discussion of LCCA’s member benefits at the World’s Greatest Hobby on Tour show in Cleveland, OH, David Starre decided to join LCCA. He became RM 29131 and not long afterward decided to attend the LCCA 2009 Convention in Sacramento, CA. Here are excerpts from his letter about that experience. The full text of his letter will be published in the October 2009 issue of
TLR. We feel his words express better than we ever could the fun and joy of our annual Conventions.
I had thought of vacationing in San Francisco this year and after hearing that the LCCA was planning their Convention in Sacramento, it would be a joy to spend time in both cities. I always dreamed of attending a train show in California. I learned about the special early registration gift, a car produced for the first 400 registrants to this event, and other features. I like surprises!
I spent four days in San Francisco and then boarded the Amtrak Capital Corridor to Sacramento. It was a fun prelude to what would be a great experience.
When I reached the Convention host hotel, I found many enthusiastic people. I discovered the LCCA Store filled with Lionel merchandise at attractive prices. The Banquet was exciting with raffles, a silent auction, and a table gift for every guest.
Since joining LCCA, all of the members I have come in contact with share such love for Lionel trains. I have been able to acquire hard-to-find parts for some of my repairs through LCCA members. In my opinion, the reason why this club so is successful during this tough economic climate is because of the focus on its member’s well-being and good management decisions.
