January 28 & 29, 2017. LCCA and CTTG Host Weekend of Fun Denver, Co-Recap
A Weekend of Fun with Toy Trains
This was the fourth Weekend of Fun cosponsored by LCCA and the Colorado Toy Train Group. Attendees were lined up from the registration desk out the door starting half an hour before the show opened waiting for their children to get one of 200 free back packs loaded with train related goodies. Then it was off to the Brio layout and the toddler riding train for the youngest. Other kids went directly to the interactive layouts some of which were just a foot of the floor so they could run the trains blow the whistles and load and unload the cars. Lenny the Lion visited and was a big hit as usual. The Colorado Toy Train Group’s LCCA accessory module was crowded with excitement as the children operated the watchtower on fire, log loader, magnetic crane, barrel loader and the lumber forklift. There were operating layouts of N, G, S, O and O two rail along with a trolley layout. New LCCA junior members received a sign up gift and four Lionel sets were given away as door prizes. On Saturday evening the banquet attendees were treated to a fantastic live show by a popular local country western and bluegrass band. Attendees all received flat cars with loads to cap off a really fun day with toy trains!
