LCCA 2010 Convention Daily News Report - Friday, July 30, 2010
Two half-day tours were scheduled today:
#10 A visit to the Colorado Railroad Museum and Red Rocks State Park and Amphitheatre
#11 Mile High City Tour
These tours were planned for a return to the host hotel in time for the annual LCCA Business Meeting.
The atrium of the host hotel was constantly filled with visitors who wanted to see the Lionel layout and a local train club O-gauge layout in action. LCCA provided two G-scale Polar Express trains and two “Little Lionel” train sets as rug layouts for hands-on play by youngsters.
The LCCA Business Meeting was convened at 2:00 p.m. and was followed at 3:00 p.m. by the Lionel Seminar. Meanwhile, at 2:00 p.m., Junior Members met with “The Train Lady” artist, Angela Trotta Thomas, for a drawing class entitled “How to Draw a Lionel Train.” At 6:00 p.m. sharp, the doors to the Trading Hall were opened to a flood of members seeking products responsive to their wish lists.
Angela Trotta Thomas taught the “Draw a Lionel Train” class with A/V gear and encouraging words to young “art students.”
This young artist applied his creativity to drawing a Santa Fe diesel locomotive during the class session.
This shopper examined a possible purchase from one of the 100+ tables at the Train Show in the Rocky Mountain Events Center at the host hotel.

Other LCCA leaders on the platform during the Business Meeting were Secretary-elect Dennis DeVito, Director Dave Miller, and Director Roger Farkash.
Lionel’s Matt Ashba showed a PowerPoint presentation of new Lionel products in the pipeline. The Q&A portion of the Lionel Seminar brought applause when Lionel execs confirmed plans to manufacture some products in the USA at a site in New Jersey.
