Howard Hitchcock, Lionel Racing SVP, Wins Inaugural "Jostens' Motorsports C
LAS VEGAS (February 21, 2014) – At the 2014 Diecast Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony today at the Plaza Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Lionel Racing SVP and General Manager Howard Hitchcock was awarded the inaugural “Jostens’ Motorsports Choice Award”.
The Diecast Hall of Fame and Jostens Motorsports division announced the new induction category and named Hitchcock as its first recipient in January.
“It means a great deal to me to be recognized on a stage such as this,” Hitchcock said. “I’m truly honored to receive the first Jostens’ Motorsports Choice Award.”
With more than 15 years of experience in the die-cast industry, Hitchcock is a celebrity among die-cast collectors and is known by the nickname “Dr. Die-cast,” which was a radio persona he created for the popular Sirius Satellite Radio show “NASCAR Collector”. He is also a familiar face to QVC watchers as he was a recurring guest on the NASCAR die-cast show “For Race Fans Only”.
Under Hitchcock’s leadership at Lionel, the company has expanded its die-cast line beyond NASCAR to become “The Officially Licensed Die-Cast of the NHRA” and has worked closely with NHRA stars like John Force to give the sport’s fans the most detailed die-cast available. In 2012, Hitchcock also led the company’s initiative to become an official licensee of Major League Baseball.
When Hitchcock is not traveling the world for die-cast or taking in a NASCAR or NHRA race, he can be found at home in North Carolina, where he resides with his wife, Michelle, and their two children, Anderson and Jordan.
