Gallery: Layout - Tim Robinson
Tim Robinson's home layout has engaged three generations: many of the buildings were handed down to him from his parents, most of the effort in creating the layout came from him, and his three sons -- especially Matthew, the youngest -- helped with painting the buildings and placing objects on the layout.
This autumn village scene has a Norman Rockwell-like tone that suggests all is well along Maple Street, USA.
These houses were made from ground oyster shells and hand-painted by Tim's mom and dad. They were passed down to him for placement on the train layout. He and Matthew finished painting the unfinished pieces and created this winter wonderland.
The downtown area of the city is comprised of products by K-Line Main Line and Lemax buildings.
This commercial district shows that Tim's layout has many more buildings on it than trains, although he can run up to 6 trains - five on loops of track and a shunt line to the coal loader.
Tim estimates the layout is about half-finished, although most hobbyists know a layout is never "finished". The platform is 3/4-inch plywood braced to support 250 lbs.
