Louis "Louie" A. Schriver V and Luke Schriver - Young Louie (eight in 2009) and his younger brother Luke enjoy trains on a 17-track rug layout at home. A love for trains runs in the family; their dad and grandfathers had trains, too. Louie and his brother were featured in an article in the June 2009 issue of "The Lion Roars."
Adam Kozaczka, shown here at age 6, grew up with his grandfather's home train layout in Cazenovia, NY. Grandpa Stan Kozaczka snapped this playful picture about 15 years ago.
Jessica Boyer has favorite trains in her father's train collection.
Robert Krebs assists in operating the South West Alabama Railroad Modelers (SWARM) modular layout during the annual Arts and Crafts Festival in Fairhope, AL.
Young Wes Chochran enjoys the home layout of LCCA (and SWARM) member George Nelson of Fairhope, AL.
Kristi Dewey is a train kid with a favorite railroad (C&O), a hobby-encouraging mom, and proud grandparents. She regularly attends LCCA Conventions with her family and is also an active member of the Chicagoland Lionel Railroad Club. She is shown here with the CLRC's train 'drag race' track at the club's annual picnic.
At eight months old, it's obvious that Mason Yarney is a "train kid." He is the grandson of LCCA member Phil Capion (RM 15540). Mason enjoys the Lionel Circus Train and the Flying Dumbo Pylon shown in the background. He has already received a Thomas the Tank Engine and its expansion set, plus other trains. Mason and Grandpa Phil share train time together, and a permanent layout is already at the thinking/pre-planning stage.
David Starre’s (RM 29131) young nephew Gabriel Guido (four years old in 2010) has acquired a fantastic interest in trains. David’s sister arranges for him to babysit with Gabriel while she is working. Because of Gabriel, David’s interest in Lionel trains has also increased to the level of child-like excitement. “His enthusiasm has rubbed off on his uncle in a very happy way,” David says.
Bill Hakkarinen (RM 8815) and grandson Jaik Hakkarinen (10 years old in 2010) check out one of Grandpa Bill’s Lionel locomotives, just as boys have done since the early days of the toy train hobby.
