Convention Christmas Message - 2014 Convention in Indy

Let me wish all of you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays as we begin to look forward to our 44th convention. This annual event will take place in Indianapolis, Indiana, from July 20-26. Our home away from home will be the Marriott Indianapolis East where we will enjoy the hospitality, food and comfort of this wonderful Marriott property.

One of the “WOW” tours will be our train trip on Monday, July 21, as we ride behind the famous Nickel Plate steam engine #765.  This beautifully restored engine from the Fort Wayne RR Historical Society will be on the point with Rich Melvin, publisher of OGR at the throttle.  Riding in the vintage coaches, we will look forward to a couple of photo run-byes as we view the scenery from Kokomo to Logansport and back again, enjoying the central part of Indiana, as we relive the steam days of the ‘40’s and ‘50’s.

In addition to the #765 there will also be two more train excursions, one on the train from the Indiana Transportation Museum and a turn of the century trip on the Whitewater Valley RR to Metamora, IN, and the canal boat ride. And these are only two of the 14 tours waiting for you in INDY. Oh, be sure to keep watching for news about the Brickyard 400 and a way to extend your convention time. Christmas is here as I write this, but the presents are coming in July

Make it a point to mark your calendar for what will be one of the best conventions in LCCA history. See you in July!
