LCCA Regrettably Cancels 2021 Scranton Convention

In an e-blast from LCCA President Harry Hampson, he formally announced that the LCCA BOD in an abundance of caution decided to cancel the July LCCA 51th annual convention in Scranton.  While the covid pandemic seems to be mastered by the vaccine, input from state and Federal health official recommendations indicated that July is too soon to have such a large gathering in closed spaces like trains and banquet facilities.

In his own words in the recent e-blast Harry explained ,:

"After considering all of the relevant facts in regard to the world-wide Covid-19 pandemic, the Lionel Collectors Club of America (LCCA) will not hold its annual convention in 2021. The club’s Board of Directors has unanimously decided to curtail plans for a gathering this year. Primary consideration was given to the health and well being of our members. As our membership is aware, we did not hold our annual convention in Omaha, Neb., in July 2020 due to the pandemic. Consequently, we will be visiting Omaha for our 2024 convention and will schedule our 2025 convention in Scranton, PA. Right now, we are thinking ahead to Nashville, Tenn., in July 2022.

The club will continue to communicate new developments and future plans to all members via The Lion Roars, eblasts and the club’s Facebook page. In the meantime, stay tuned for some exciting new product announcements, a new video series soon to be released and two new additions to the LCCA Historic Model Train Archive which feature historic Lionel, American Flyer and Ives catalogs, advertising and other materials."
